This seems to be a very busy time of year for many of us. There are weddings, graduations, family get-togethers, plus all the normal activities. With all this busy-ness, any unexpected or unplanned event can seem to throw us into a tail spin, and it doesn’t feel very peaceful!
I recently had to replace my computer. One day, after a routine update, it wouldn’t come up anymore. A visit to Best Buy showed that the hard drive had failed. I looked into repairing it versus replacing it, and I opted for replacement. Less than a week later I had my new system up and running, and I’m very pleased with the results. But, that time between was a little uncomfortable.
Looking back, I see that I was already busy, and having to do things differently or much delayed (until I had my new system) disturbed my peace. I couldn’t just run downstairs and look up something on the computer. I was able to use my laptop for several new things, but I didn’t have my regular files to store them. It was just different!
I fully realize that there was no hardship. I merely had to do things a little differently for a few days. And, I realize that I had allowed my ‘things to do’ take over my inner peace. Isn’t that common when things get busy?
What can we do? Several things… Stop, breathe, and remember the Truth. First, stop. Stop allowing fear or anxiety to take over our minds. Be aware that the way we think about our situation influences our happiness, and we have a choice. Next, breathe. Take a short break. Breathe deeply a few times to become more grounded and aware. Finally, remember the Truth.
The Truth is that we are creations of the Most High, Source, God. We are at one with this Source at all times. When we remember this, we know that we can turn to that Source and receive exactly what we need. We can become peaceful, despite outer circumstances. We can open ourselves to guidance and ideas, to comfort and strength, and to love and joy.
And when we are centered in that Truth, a perfect order becomes clear. And all is well.
