That Time Again!

We’ve had some strange weather this year, and even as I write this, the leaves are still on the trees, just beginning to turn colors. Our fall has been warm, so it seems impossible that the holiday season is upon us! How do we handle the additional tasks that come with the holidays? Are we joyous and grateful, or do we feel stressed just thinking about all that needs to be done?
Of course, the vision of sitting at the Thanksgiving table with family and friends, and coming together at Christmas in our own unique family traditions can motivate us to keep up with all that is required of us. Sometimes, though, we need something more. We can get discouraged, overwhelmed and frustrated if we don’t have a way to keep up our strength. What better way that to rely on our Creator?
A favorite scripture passage of mine helps me in tough times. It is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’. It is a great reminder of several things. First, I’m never alone. When it feels like I’m the only one who can (fill in the blank), I remember this passage. It helps me remember that I am one with the Divine, and I can always rest and get strengthened by that inner connection. Second, I realize that the power within me is greater than my human self can ever be. If I try to rely on my human self, I am limiting my potential. And finally, ‘all things’ reminds me that even when my human mind gets overwhelmed by what seems like the impossible, I know that ‘with God, all things are possible’.
Holidays coming up? No worries! We know that we have all we need to handle everything that comes our way. We anticipate celebrating the holidays peacefully, lovingly and joyously.
Happy holidays to all!!
